I took some time yesterday and gathered up my creative best of for 2008. This year has been a very good year for learning, hands down. I have dedicated this year to learning new compositional techniques and seeing the light in a totally different way... (using fast glass)
I have used less of my flash at higher powers and have had a great time using Neutral Density gels to even lower the power of my slave flashes, thus shooting at 1/256 power on an Sb-28. I've picked up video lights and been grateful when I'm at weddings where videographers are actually using them where as in the past, I loathed them for using these lights.
I hope these images can be some motivation for you. Flashflavor has been a might part of the efforts and I felt like this slideshow belonged here.
Enjoy :)
OH, to my brides... i had many many more fav's from each event but needed to organize this down to under 200 to keep the interest from folks.... I picked from over 40 weddings and a dozen or so of TTD sessions to get this mix... hope u like :)

Great work Matt! Very inspiring. The slideshow worked well on my Mac using Safari.
beautiful matt. i wish you and sol a very happy new year and i’m so glad i got to meet you at the photographers retreat in oct. you guys are awesome.
Michael… Thanks for stopping by to comment. Honestly, I feel like I use available light as much or more than I do with flash. I mix light all over the place and really don’t find myself using the same pattern every time.
I would say, my movement in the last 12 months actually feels like I’ve become more sensitive to low available light. Fast L series Prime Lenses and high ISO. Can’t wait for the 5d Mark II.
cheers!

Thanks for sharing your images throughout the year - its great to see wedding photographers moving from available light - to “Creating Light”.
